You may qualify for Second Career/Better Jobs Ontario funding if:
- you have been laid off and are working a temporary job just to cover costs
- you have been laid off and are either unemployed or working less than an average of 20 hours per week in an interim job.
- you have not been laid-off but have been jobless for a minimum of 6 months and are a part of a low-income household
- you are currently receiving Employment Insurance, or have received it in the past
The Second Career/Better Jobs Ontario program is now open as well for new Ontarians, gig workers, self-employed workers, or those on social assistance such as Ontario Works (OW) and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).
In order to submit your application you will need to prepare and include the following information:
- How long you’ve been unemployed, or working a temporary job, and have been looking for work
- The level of education you’ve reached
- Places and positions you have applied for
- The skills you want to learn and where you want to train for them
- Your previous employment, length of employment, and skills you needed to have for that work
